In this blog entry, the Charleston appliance repair and Charleston washing machine repair experts here at 843 Appliance Repair will detail some effective tips for eliminating any mildew odors from front loading washing machines.
- Try running your machine with zero clothes in it on a normal cycle using hot water, and add two cups of white vinegar to the detergent dispenser with no detergent.
- Manually clean and then rinse off all exposed areas of the washing machine using a solution of ½ vinegar and 1⁄2 hot water. Scrub the machine interior, paying attention to the detergent dispenser and the rubber band that seals the door. Then repeat the process, wiping it with plain hot water.
- Run a cycle with the washer empty with ONLY hot water, and no detergent or vinegar.
- Then air out the washing machine. When the empty cycle is complete, open the washing machine door and leave it open for 4-6 hours to fully dry out the washing machine drum. Only use high efficiency detergent in your front load washing machine. Hot water is always a better choice than cold or warm water to clean mildew.
